The Under 11 team consists of children born in the year 2001 and is open to boys and girls. New members are always welcome. From U7 to U12 the game is played under the rules of mini rugby and each year a further step is taken towards youth rugby. Mini rugby has as its emphasis the development of skills and the participation of all. Matches are non-competitive. The aim is that, during the course of the season, through training and learning from match situations, the children will improve both individually and as a team.

At Under 11s a number of new elements are introduced. First of all, we move to a bigger ball and now play with a size 4 ball. This year the team goes from eight-a-side to ten-a-side and the distinction between forwards and backs begins to become more pronounced. The scrums go from three-man to five-man. This year both hookers can attempt to win the ball. The lineouts this year will also be contested as the defending team can also try to win the ball. This year for the first time the ball can also be kicked during a match - where the game is started with a drop kick and players can kick from within a defensive zone. The handoff is also allowed as is the scrumhalf breaking from the lineout and scrum with the ball. - The game at U11 is almost the same as the full adult game.

Matches All matches this year are non-competitive as per IRFU regulations. The idea is to have players play as many matches as possible and to learn to enjoy the game of rugby. We will have matches most weekends and are entered in 2 leagues. We play in the North East Leinster League (mainly Meath and Louth). We also play in the Metro League which involves mainly Dublin clubs.

Other Outings Hopefully as last year we will have tournaments throughout the season, such as the Armagh Tournament and the Community Games and we will have another club day out to a Leinster match.

Mams, Dads, Grannies, Grandas and all other supporters We would ask for parents to volunteer to assist in any way they can, such as, looking after players on the side lines, looking after water and first aid, taking photos or videoing matches, doing a match report etc etc (any novel ideas regarding help please, please let us know). At training parents may be asked to help too. We ask that parents get involved as we believe the more help we have the better rugby experience your children will have. All players, coaches and supporters abide by the club's Code of Behaviour at all times.
